If Obama doesn’t win, I’m emigrating
I’m a 21 year old student. A foreign-born student, on top of that. And a immigrant with a great respect and love for the United States of America. I arrived in the US not too long after September 11, when Bush has one of the highest approval ratings of any president in the history of the US. Now, I live in a country that my international friends despise and fear, and where my American friends are hopeless and angry at the injustice done to the country.
And now we finally have candidates for a new election that could change all of this. But then I read the election news. And I follow the democratic campaigns. And what do I keep seeing? Hillary and her back-alley-fighting campaign smearing Obama’s name on every occasion they can.
Seriously. If Obama doesn’t win, I’m leaving for greener pastures.
why don’t you leave NOW?!! nobody cares about you anyway, and you’re probably a burden on the welfare system anyways, so just leave
hmmm, burden on the welfare system? surely you jest, since i’m already contributing more to the high-tech industry that the average citizen around me.
Don’t worry, i don’t live under the false impressions that i’m being “cared about”, whatever that means.
Bye.
I agree, leaving NOW would be a great help to America. Consider it you DUTY to get out right now.
Thank you.
Just leave now. If you can’t contribute to society through the good and the bad you don’t belong here anyway. Thanks for visiting, feel free to come back anytime after you realize you can’t always get your way.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT LEAVE. You sound intelligent and reflective in a way that is sorely needed in this country. If you leave, I leave.
Yoseph, Joe: Reading your posts I conclude that you two belong to the dumb masses America is in great need to get rid of. But as always I’m sure he will leave and you will stay. Anyway: you are the burden. Cope with it.
Start packing because Hillary will win the nomination, because she is the Democrat establishment and probably has dirt on every Super-delegate. She will stop at nothing, believe me.
It’s amazing how a single troll with a couple of different names can give the appearance of group consensus. Sadly, it’s people like this that make me want to leave as well.
The sad truth is that even if Obama wins nothing will change in this country. If you have the option to leave, you will probably be better off doing so now before the trolls start to eat each other…
no, I think he should leave now as well.
Maybe I should take this opportunity to make two statements.
First off, this was written at a moment of hopelessness, and frankly, both Hillary and Obama will probably manage to do good for the country. I do like Obama’s sincerity and integrity more that Hillary’s (since we won’t be getting Ron Paul into office and he is way up there when it comes to integrity). It is just terribly disheartening to see how ruthless and crude the campaigns are.
Secondly, I’m taken aback by the severe and ruthless commentary from the American public. Sure, the blogosphere is a strongly opinionated and dangerous world, but it saddens me that immigrants are seen in such a light. In South Africa the same sentiments were thrown to the people who asked for change and, seeing none happen, left. Now the country is bereft of its intellectual elite. Immigrants built America from nothing, and today’s immigrants are still working next to those who’s families happened to come to these coasts a couple of hundred years earlier.
As I like telling myself – Don’t be Cocky. It will only make you lose. Wake up, joe and yoseph.
Honestly man, we let you into our country, and gave you a chance to do very well for yourself. Something that *very* few other countries will do.
Hell, most european countries hardly even accept workers from neighboring european countries.
So when you show up, take advantage of all that we have, and then tell us your pissed off and leaving because you don’t agree with us? It makes you look the the cocky one.
That being said, I understand that you probably were using a bit of hyperbole to get your point across, and not being entirely literal in your remarks, and in all honesty I applaud your enthusiasm. I would, however, suggest you try to learn even more about the politics here, as you might find that things are not as clear as they seem on the surface or as they are presented by the media. Believe it or not, a lot of people feel Bush isn’t terribly off course… A lot of really intelligent people. You must always keep in mind that most of what you see/read/hear is either entirely biased towards the left, or in many cases outright lies.
But your a smart guy, I know you can make your own decisions!
totally agree. if obama loses it’ll just be a sobering confirmation that america officially belongs to the ‘idiots’ at which point i have half a mind to renounce my citizenship.
I’m with you man, american born and this country is owned by corporations. the people here are assholes too, can you tell by these bloggers ^^^ they’ve never even been outside the u.s. so no worries. These are the dumb rednecks of our nation talking. I’m moving to Australia once i graduate. USA is falling apart like the soviet union.. read a boook… 10 trillion dollars in debt and at war with the world, because of stupid politicians the only hope for this country is ron paul or raplph nader not these dems and republican cowards. You all need to wake up and get a life.
As they say — love it or leave it! So I guess we’ll be seeing you (no big loss). But if you actually support Obama, then you are a complete psychopath anyway and are detrimental to the country anyway.
Look, the USA is not like the rest of the world -we’re fair and we encourage hard work and conservative values. If you want something for nothing, you can go to Europe …
The reason you’ve had any opportunity at all in this country is because of the freedom and way of life that we’ve fought for for hundreds of years. Democrats and liberals are the antithesis of the great American tradition of our forefathers and if they get their way, we’ll be no better than the sorry remainder of countries around the world with restrictive and oppressive governments. If you like that better than staying here and having opportunity, and the right and freedom to criticize your own government as you do, then don’t come crying back later..
You are loser. The questions you should be asking are:
What have I done to EARN and deserve quality healthcare?
What have I done to EARN and deserve a comfortable lifestyle
What have I done to EARN and deserve to live in this glorious bastion of freedom?
Having a pulse isn’t enough.
Freedom isn’t free. In the USA, we breed people who have the spirit and toughness to overcome adversity and acheive whatever they want. If you can’t do it or think the rules aren’t fair, your just not trying hard enough and don’t deserve it anyway…
